Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse splits pair of weekend games with Missouri Valley and (3) Cumberlands (Ky.)

Men's Lacrosse dropped a top-10 matchup at home Sunday as the Ravens lost to the University of Cumberlands Patriots 19-9, unable to climb out of an early hole.

The (8) Ravens did not get off to the kind of start they hoped for, as the (3) Patriots scored the first 5 goals of the game and took a 5-0 lead after one quarter of play.

The Patriots extended their lead to 6-0 early in the second quarter, but the Ravens answered with their first 3 goals of the game to cut the visitors' lead in half. The Cumberlands had their own answer, though, scoring the final 3 goals of the half to take a 9-3 lead into the halftime break.

The Patriots outshot the Ravens 24-10, with an 18-7 advantage in shots on goal in the first half. They also won 9 face-offs, compared to 5 for the Ravens.

The Patriots grabbed control of the game in the third quarter, out-scoring the Ravens 7-2 to take a 16-5 lead into the fourth quarter. While the Ravens did out-score the Patriots 4-3 in the final quarter, they were unable to climb out of the early hole.

Sean Molyneux and Jordan Rodriguez were the offensive leaders for the Ravens as each scored 3 goals. Rodriguez and Michael Hogan dished out 2 assists. In goal, Duncan Loud faced 33 shots, making 14 saves.

Sunda's loss comes on the heals of a 19-1 win over Missouri Valley College on the road Saturday in KCAC play. The Ravens used a 57-10 advantage in shots to dominate the Vikings. Offensively, Hogan led the Ravens with 7 goals and 2 assists while Molyneux added 4 goals. Aiden Richardson, Brady Guck, and Rodriguez added 2 goals each.

With a win Saturday against Missouri Valley coupled with Sunday's loss to the Patriots, the Ravens are now 7-6 (7-2 KCAC) on the season. Their final regular season game will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12 against Ottawa back on Legacy Field.
