DES MOINES – Raven Softball saw their eight-game winning streak snapped on Monday at the hands of Heart North opponent (12) Grand View University.
The Vikings took game one, 10-1, in five innings and then wrapped up the sweep with a 9-4 win in game two.
MacKenzie Pinkerton and Jenna Drish combined inside the circle in the opener with Pinkerton suffering the loss. She gave up 7 runs off 8 hits in one inning.
Megan Medhus and Chloe Strickland each recorded a double in the loss while Madison Zaccardo hit a solo home run in the second inning for the Ravens lone run.
A 5-run fourth inning proved to be the difference in game two. Kera Willoughby earned the start Inside the circle and pitched into the fourth inning, going 3 and two-thirds before she was relieved by Drish and Alicia Armijo. Willoughby gave up 3 earned runs off 6 hits with 2 strikeouts in the loss.
Isabella Ingui anchored the Ravens efforts on offense. She went 2 for 3 with a solo home run in the third and an RBI single in the seventh. Zaccardo added a double while Kylie Hays and Ally Pickering were both credited with an RBI each.
Benedictine is scheduled to travel to Parkville, Mo., on Wednesday to take on Park University in Heart South play.
