Men's Lacrosse took on Ottawa University for the second time in 10 days with nearly an identical result.
Benedictine's James Carson opened the scoring almost 5 minutes into the game, giving the Ravens a 1-0 lead. That was followed by 5 more goals to give the Ravens a 6-0 lead en route to an 18-12 final. The start mimicked the first time the two teams played each other, on April 12, when the Ravens scored the first 7 goals of the game and went on to win 17-10.
After one quarter of play, the Ravens held a 6-1 lead. The Ravens expanded on their lead in the second quarter, taking a 6-goal lead into the break, 11-5. Duncan Loud was solid for the Ravens, making 12 saves in the opening 30 minutes.
The Ravens maintained that advantage after three quarters of play as they took a 15-9 lead into the fourth quarter. Just like April 12, the Ravens made their early run stick as they advanced to the KCAC Championship game.
Loud finished with 25 saves to help keep the Ravens in front from start to finish. Offensively, Jordan Rodriguez had a team-high 6 goals and Sean Molyneux had 4 goals. Aidan Richardson and James Carson each scored 2 goals.
The trip to the title game marks the Ravens second trip in their last three tournament appearances. They won their previous appearance in 2019 over Missouri Valley College.
The Ravens will take on (1) St. Ambrose at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 23 in the championship on Legacy Field. A win not only would give the Ravens the KCAC Tournament Championship, but also an automatic bid in the NAIA Invitational Championship.
