MARSHALL, Mo. – Raven Softball split a pair of Heart South games on Tuesday as they earned a 7-1 win over Missouri Valley to open up the doubleheader before the Vikings took game two, 7-4.
Kera Willoughby recorded her fourth complete game of the season in the opener, limiting the Viking to just a run off 8 hits with 2 strikeouts.
At the plate, the Ravens were anchored by Ally Pickering. She went 2 for 4 with a triple and 4 RBI. Megan Medhus and Isabella Ingui added a double each while Ingui went 3 for 4.
In game two,m the Vikings used a 4-run third inning to take their first lead of the game and then added two runs in the fourth to avoid a late comeback effort from Benedictine.
MacKenzie Pinkerton earned the start inside the circle for the Ravens. She went 2 and one-third before she was relieved by Willoughby and Jenna Drish. Pinkerton gave up 3 earned runs off 5 hits in the loss.
At the plate, Medhus added a home run while Pickering and Natalie Sheffield finished with a double each. Sheffield drove in two, while Medhus and Pickering added an RBI each.
With her game-one double, Medhus enters Wednesday's doubleheader with MNU needing three doubles to break the career record for the Ravens. The doubleheader with the Pioneers is scheduled for Noon.
