OLATHE – Raven Men's Soccer earned their first draw of the conference schedule on Wednesday with a last-minute goal against No. 6 MNU.
Trailing 2-1, Diego Acuna crossed the ball through the box and connected with JJ Johannsen to pull the Ravens even in the 89th minute of play and ear the draw. The draw was the Pioneers second, as they also scored a late goal over the weekend to draw then-No. 1-ranked Central Methodist.
The Pioneers got on the board early, scoring the first goal of the match during the 9th minute. That lead stood until the 37th minute when Kian Hayes scored on a pass from Johannsen to make it 1-1.
MNU took the lead into the halftime break, scoring with one second remaining before halftime.
Noah Reuscher recorded 5 of his 6 saves in the second half to keep Benedictine in the match. The Pioneers finished with an 18-14 advantage in shots with just a one shot on goal difference, 8-7.
Acuna led the Ravens in shots with 3 while Eliah Froeyland, Carson Wilcox, Kajubi Kalanzi, and Jesus Rodriguez each tallied 2.
Benedictine wraps up Family Weekend's athletic events on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with a match against Heart opponent Clarke University on Legacy Field. They will also be celebrating Senior Night prior to the match.
