Men's Basketball earned a season-sweep over the Park University Pirates on Saturday.
The Ravens topped Park 66-59 at home in Ralph Nolan Gym.
Despite leading by 9 at halftime, the Ravens fell behind by 4 points with 8:45 to play. Braden Belt answered with a 3-pointer and a bucket by Hunter Schneider quickly gave the lead back to the Ravens.
A basket and free throw by Jayden Temme put the Ravens up 49-46, and those wouldn't be the only big points down the stretch for the senior. Temme drilled a 3-pointer with 2:16 left on the clock to give the Ravens a 58-54 lead, then hit another from deep a minute later to push the lead to 61-54. A pair of free throws in the final minute gave Temme 17 points in the game.
Sam Ungashick also hit big shots down the stretch and had a team-high 18 points to go with 6 assists for the Ravens. Belt had 10 points and Schneider finished with 9 points and 8 rebounds off the bench. The Ravens outscored Park's reserves 14-0 in the game.
Through 10 minutes of physical action to start the game, the Ravens held a 12-9 on the Pirates. The Ravens then went on an 11-0 run to increase their lead to 23-9 with just under 6 minutes to play before half, capped off by Temme's second 3-pointer of the half.
The Ravens strong defense held the Pirates to 23.1% shooting in the opening 20 minutes, with the home team taking a 29-20 lead into halftime.
Both teams wound up shooting 40% from the field in the game, but the Ravens turned 14 offensive rebounds into 16 second-chance points to help earn the victory.
With the win the Ravens improve to 11-9 overall and 9-5 in Heart action. They will travel to Central Methodist University for a Wednesday, Jan. 25 Heart tilt.
