FAYETTE, Mo. – Central Methodist University overcame a halftime deficit on Wednesday night to earn a regular-season split with Men's Basketball.
CMU opened the second half with an 8-0 run that erased their halftime deficit and then held off a late push by the Ravens to earn a 67-54 win.
The Eagles held an early lead that grew to as much as 7 before a 7-point run for the Ravens erased that deficit to pull even on a Braden Belt 3-pointer. Preston Reynolds gave the Ravens their first lead with just over four minutes remaining in the half and after two more ties a free throw from Jayden Temme gave the Ravens the lead for good headed to the half, 28-27.
CMU opened the second half with 8 straight points to erase their halftime deficit before Temme hit a 3-pointer to make it 35-31four minutes into the half.
That 3-pointer was the only field goal for the Ravens through the midpoint of the second half when Jake Thompson connected on a 3-pointer on his own. At that point, the Ravens deficit stood at 11 after the Ravens trailed by as much as 15.
Sam Ungashick hit a basket in the paint with six minutes remaining to pull Benedictine back within 5 points but that was the closest they got as CMU held Benedictine to 2 of their last 10 from the field as they pulled back ahead by 13 to end the game.
Temme led the Ravens with 19 points, followed by Ungashick with 11. Reynolds finished with 9 points off the bench as the Ravens held a 16-8 advantage off the bench.
