Game Recap: Softball |

Softball splits Monday doubleheader with (3) USAO

CHICKASHA, Okla. – Softball split with No. 3 University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma on Monday night.

Benedictine used a 2-run ninth inning to earn a 5-3 win over the Drovers before falling in the nightcap, 3-0.

The win over the Drovers was the second straight for the Ravens over a nationally-ranked opponent after closing out their weekend tournament appearance with a win over Oklahoma City.

USAO took a 2-0 lead after four innings before Benedictine scored three unanswered. Bella Ingui singled to score Natalie Sheffield in the fifth inning before Sheffield doubled in the sixth to score Megan Medhus and Hailey Burmeister.

The Drovers answered with a solo home run in the sixth and the game headed to extra innings after a scoreless seventh.

Medhus was able to put the ball in play in the top of the ninth inning which led to Kassidy James and Halley Rindom scoring after an error on the Drovers second basemen.

Kera Willoughby returned to the game in the bottom of the ninth to earn the save, getting three straight outs to give the Ravens the upset.

Willoughby earned the start inside the circle. She threw the first five innings, giving up three runs off six hits before Abby Pressgrove took over in relief. Pressgrove limited the Drovers to two hits with two strikeouts to earn the win.

In game two, the Ravens went hitless against the Drovers as Abi Gregory threw her second straight no-hitter inside the circle for USAO.

The Ravens return to Oklahoma City today for a doubleheader against the top-ranked Stars starting at 2 p.m.
