PARKVILLE, Mo. – Softball split their Heart road game on Saturday against Park University.
Benedictine earned a 9-0 win in 5 innings in the opener before Park forced the split with a walk-off win in game two, 5-4.
In the opener, the Ravens scored their 9 runs off 9 hits, which was plenty of support for Kera Willoughby inside the circle.
Willoughby threw a complete game for the Ravens, holding the Pirates scoreless over 5 innings off 2 hits.
Kassidy James and Abby Pressgrove set the table at the plate for the Ravens. They both went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored while Pressgrove added 2 RBI. Clare Heitz finished with 3 RBI while Chloe Strickland added 2.
In game two, the Ravens built a 4-0 lead through 5 innings. The Pirates earned the win with a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to earn the split.
Pressgrove and Medhus both went 2 for 4 at the plate. Pressgrove finished with 4 RBI off a double and home run.
Bailey Selvage earned the start inside the circle for the Ravens. She gave way to Lacey Foster before returning to close out the game. She finished with 3 strikeouts while giving up 2 runs off 7 hits in the loss.
Benedictine returns to Ravens Field on Sunday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader with Missouri Valley College.
