Men's Soccer lost their first contest of 2023 in a hard-fought game.
The Ravens lost to the (RV) Concordia University Bulldogs 1-0, with the only goal coming on a Penalty Kick in the first half.
An evenly played first 45 minutes saw the first goal come in the 39th minute. Noah Reuscher was whistled for a foul in the box as he raced to a loose ball and collided with a Concordia player. The Bulldogs capitalized on the ensuing PK to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Ravens upped the pressure in the second half searching for an equalizing goal. Despite pressing forward and generating some chances, no goal was found.
The two best opportunities came when Diego Acuna's shot from outside the box curved slightly too far right and ricocheted off the post, and later in the second half, Carson Poole narrowly missed out on a header inside the 6-yard box.
In total, the Ravens outshot the Bulldogs 9-5. However, only 1 shot was on frame as the other attempts didn't find the target.
The loss gives the Ravens a 4-1-1 record heading into conference play. They will take on Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday, Sept. 16. The Ravens will face Graceland in their home opener at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20.
