BELLVUE, Neb. – Volleyball went 3-1 on Friday and Saturday with four matches at the GoSarpy.com Labor Day Classic hosted by Bellevue University.
Friday, the Ravens earned a pair of 3-2 wins beating Avila University and (RV) IU Kokomo. Saturday, they split their two matches, falling 3-1 to (RV) Dakota Wesleyan and then wrapping up the tournament with a 3-1 win over Lindsey Wilson.
Against IU Kokomo, the Ravens trailed 2-0 in the match before rattling off three straight to earn the upset.
The Ravens finished the weekend with a .262 attack percentage, averaging 13.6 kills per set. Regan Bruggeman finished the tournament with a total of 73 kills, with an average of 4.1 kills per set. Mary Pat Taylor finished with 56 kills with an average of 3.11 kills per set. Hokulani Sagapolu finished with 40 kills, with an average of 2.22 per set to round out the attack for the Ravens.
Amber Allen, set up the Ravens attack throughout the tournament finishing with a total of 198 assists at 11 assists per set as the Ravens totaled 229 assists over the four matches.
Defensively, the Ravens finished with 20 team blocks. Caroline Zapata recorded 3 solo blocks and 7 block assists, Allen added 2 solo bocks while Maura Lickteig added 5 block assists. Evelyn Arreola led the backline defense with 90 digs, followed by Sagapolu with 70 and Taylor with 50.
The Ravens remain on the road Tuesday, traveling down Highway 73 to take on the University of St. Mary in Leavenworth.
