Volleyball posts 2-0 road trip with sweep over Grand View, 3-1 win over William Penn

Benedictine Volleyball earned a pair of Heart road wins on Friday and Saturday, sweeping Grand View University on Friday night in Des Moines, Iowa, before finishing off the weekend with a 3-1 win over William Penn University on Saturday in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

In the sweep over the Vikings on Friday, the Ravens snapped an 11-match losing streak at the hands of Grand View with their win. The Ravens won 25-22, 25-20, 25-17 en route to hitting .210 for the match with 41 kills.

Regan Bruggeman led the attack with 12 kills. Hokulani Sagapolu added 9 kills while Mary Pat Taylor and Maura Lickteig finished with 7 each. Amber Allen set up the offensive attack, finishing the match with 30 assists.

Defensively, the Ravens finished with 16 block assists and 55 digs. Taylor finished with 5 block assists and 14 digs while Lickteig added 4 block assists. Sagapolu added a solo block and 12 digs. Evelyn Arreola led the backline defensive effort with 21 digs.

Against the Statesmen on Saturday, Benedictine won the first set 25-18 and then followed up a set two loss with wins over 15-20 and 25-15 to earn the win.

Sagapolu led the attack with 22 kills while adding 14 digs defensively. Taylor aded 18 kills while Lickteig added 9. Carolina Zapata finished with 8 kills to round out the offensive effort. Allen finished with 54 assists as she anchored an attack that finished at .208.

Defensively, Arreola added 21 digs to lead the backline effort while Sagapolu and Lickteig finished with a pair of block assists each.

Benedictine returns home on Tuesday for another Heart match against No. 8 Park University at 7 p.m.
