Men's Basketball closed out the home portion of their schedule with a win on Wednesday night.
The Ravens topped the Grand View University Vikings, 71-60, leading for the final 27 minutes of the game.
The Ravens took a 9-point lead into the halftime break thanks to solid outside shooting and an ability to score inside the paint. It was Ezrah Vaigafa's 3-pointer with 7:19 left in the opening half that gave the Ravens a lead they would never surrender.
The Ravens closed the first half with five 3-pointers on 15 attempts, out-pacing the Vikings 1-11 shooting from deep. The Ravens also notched 18 points in the paint in the opening half, with guards showcasing an ability to drive inside. Brycen LaRue had 11 points in the first half and Ahmad Louis added 7 points.
Bence Duka was the leader for the Ravens early in the second half. He set career highs of 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Ravens maintained a safe lead over the Vikings in the final 20 minutes.
The Ravens defense, as it has been for most of the 2023-24 season, gave its opponent trouble. Grand View entered the game averaging 79 points per game on 47.9% shooting and 34.6% shooting from 3-point range. The Ravens held them 19 points below that average, and held the Vikings to 38.1% from the field and just 15% from deep.
LaRue had a team-high 16 points and added 6 rebounds. Duka added 2 assists and 2 blocks to his career night, Louis scored 13 and had 7 boards, and Gino Corridori scored 12 points and had a pair of blocks.
The Ravens (9-17, 8-15 Heart) will close out the season at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at Graceland.
