(9) Women's Lacrosse opens up Heart play with 26 goal effort against Mount Mercy

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – No. 9-ranked Benedictine Women's Lacrosse opened up Heart play on Saturday, earring a 26-1 win over Mount Mercy University.

Benedictine limited Mount Mercy to two shots offensively that didn't come until late in the game as they finished with a 46-2 advantage in shots.

It took 20 seconds for the Ravens to score their first goal of the game, an unassisted score from Alexa Hildenbrand. Before the clock struck zero on the first quarter, the Ravens reached the 10-goal threshold when Kiera Russell scored off an assist from Emma Bailey. 

The Ravens added 7 more goals in the second quarter to take an 18-0 lead at the half and spread 8 goals across the third and fourth quarter scoring a total of 26 unanswered before the Mustangs scored their lone goal with 12 seconds remaining in the game.

Benedictine was able to play four goalies in the win. Gianna Stalletti earned the win for the Ravens, earning the start and playing the first quarter. Monica Klecan, Quincy Dolan, and Molly Owen split the remaining three quarters with Dolan finishing off the game by recording one save.

Mount Mercy committee 25 turnovers with Benedictine recording 20 caused turnovers. Chanterra Allen finished with 4 while Hildenbrand and Sophia Haeuser each added 3.

Offensively, the Ravens finished with 38 shots on goal as 8 Ravens scored. Allen finished with 7 goals, followed by Hildenbrand with 5. Elizabeth Pluta and Haylee Strough scored 4 each while Russell finished with 3. Regan Engle and Ainsley Willingham joined Bailey with 1 goal each. Hildenbrand and Russell finished with 4 assists each while Allen and Pluta joined Bailey with 1 assist each.

Benedictine remains on the road on Monday, traveling to Ottawa University to take on the Braves at 4 p.m. before returning home on Saturday to take on Culver-Stockton College at 1 p.m. on Legacy Field.
