(RV) Men's Lacrosse closes out homestand with 18-goal win over Missouri Baptist

Benedictine Men's Lacrosse controlled the game from the start on Saturday, stepping out of Heart play to host former conference opponent Missouri Baptist University.

Behind 56 shots the (RV) Ravens earned a 20-2 win over the Spartans as Benedictine extended its winning streak to five games.

Mac Postel Jr. scored Benedictine's first goal of the game off an assist from Jordan Rodriguez inside the first three minutes of the game. Benedictine's next two goals came 11 seconds apart as Rodriguez and Joseph Bianchi scored quickly off the face-offs won by the Ravens. 

The Ravens scored 5 straight to open the game before the Spartans scored their first goal. They answered the Spartans goal with 5 unanswered in the second quarter to lead 11-1 at the break. 

It was Postel Jr. and Rodriguez again to start the second half as Benedictine opened the third quarter with a goal just 47 seconds into the quarter. After the Spartans scored their second goal of the game, the Ravens rattled off 8 unanswered to capture the win.

The Ravens finished with a 56-15 advantage in shots while the Spartans committed 37 turnovers – 17 of which were caused by Benedictine. Benedictine won 22 of 27 face-offs as they finished with 46 ground balls.

Rodriguez finished with 5 goals and 2 assists to anchor the Ravens offense. Postel Jr. added 4 goals while Joey Calabria added 3. Bianchi was joined with 2 goals by Charlie Louree and Mason Eberle while Jacob Meyer and Carson Huerter scored 1 goal each. Rodriguez was joined by Liam Waldron with 2 assists while Max Thomason, Luke Besheer, and Brayden Hope joined Eberle and Calabria with 1 assist each.

CJ Besuzzi earned the win in goal for the Ravens. He finished with 6 saves before John Paul Evans finished off the fourth quarter by recording 2 saves.

Aiden Nicholson led the Ravens with 4 caused turnovers while Charlie McGlinn added 3. Thomason won 13 of 15 face-offs while Bianchi won 9 of 12. Thomason finished with 9 ground balls followed by Huerter, McGlinn, and Bianchi with 5.

The Ravens return to the road for two of their final three games of the regular season, traveling first to Marshall, Mo., for an April 6 meeting with Missouri Valley College at 4 p.m.
