Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

New assist record set for Men's Lacrosse in 23-5 win over Missouri Valley

Marshall, Mo. – Not to be outdone by the Benedictine Women's Lacrosse record-setting afternoon, Benedictine Men's Lacrosse broke a record of their own on Saturday against Missouri Valley College.

The Ravens earned a 23-5 win over the Vikings, tallying 21 assists on their 23 goals breaking the previous record of 19. The previous record was set in 2022 against Morningside College.

The Ravens opened the game with an 11-goal first quarter after starting the game with three straight goals from Charlie Louree, Joey Calabria, and Mason Eberle. The Vikings made it 3-1 before the Ravens rattled off 9 straight into the second quarter to take control of the game.

By halftime, the Ravens lead moved to 15-3. The Ravens matched the Vikings final scoring tally in the third quarter alone before finishing off the game with 3 goals in the fourth.

Benedictine finished with 63 shots with 44 on goal, tying the program record for shots on goal.

Nine Ravens tallied a goal, led by Joseph Bianchi with 6 goals and 3 assists. Louree and Calabria finished with 4 goals each while Eberle added 3. Mac Postell Jr. scored 2 goals while Carson Huerter, Jacob Meyer, Peter Jane, and Mateo Herbertz all scored 1 goal each. Calabria led the Ravens with 5 assists, followed by Louree with 4 and Bianchi. Postel Jr. finished with 2 assists with Parker Bostock, Max Thomason, Davis McMullen, Herbertz, Brayden Hope, and Deke Sanders adding 1 assist each.

Benedictine finished with 11 caused turnovers with Jack Northrup leading the way with 3. Bianchi went a perfect 20 for 20 on face-offs with 18 ground balls while Thomason won 8 of 10 face-offs with 7 ground balls. 

John Paul Evans and Jerry Dalrymple split the game in goal. Evans earned the win, playing the first half with 2 saves while Dalrymple added 3 saves in the second half.

Benedictine returns home on Friday, hosting (RV) St. Ambrose University in their home regular-season finale at 7 p.m.
