BALDWIN CITY – Benedictine Softball split their second Heart series in a row on Saturday, earning a 7-0 win over Baker University before the Wildcats earned a 1-0 win in game 2 in extra innings.
In the opener, the Ravens held a 1-0 lead over the Wildcats until the sixth inning when they scored 7 runs to break the game open.
Baylee Knorr hit a 3-run home run in the sixth, followed by an RBI since from Natalie Sheffield and an error that allowed Riley Kennedy to score. Kera Willoughby capped off the inning with an RBI single to close out the Ravens break-out inning.
Willoughby earned the win inside the circle for the Ravens. She went all 7 innings, scattering 3 hits over her complete-game effort. She also added a double to her RBI single at the plate.
In game two, Bailey Selvage and Tess Eubank went toe-to-toe over 10 innings.
Baker earned the win after a sacrifice fly scored a runner from third where obstruction was ruled against Benedictine's catcher, allowing the runner to score.
Selvage struck out 8 in the loss, throwing a perfect game through 7 innings while facing the minimum through 9 after allowing her first hit in the eighth that was followed by a double play to end the inning.
Kassidy James and Clare Hietz recorded the Ravens only two hits against Eubank, who threw all 10 innings in the win.
Benedictine returns home on Wednesday, hosting Peru State College at 1 p.m. on Ravens Field.
