Ravens Softball swept a home doubleheader Wednesday afternoon.
The Ravens run-ruled the Peru State University Bobcats in both games, taking the first game by the score of 8-0, then closing out the day with a 10-2 win in Game 2.
Game 1
The (22) Ravens put together a convincing win in Wednesday's opener, downing the Bobcats 8-0. The bats came to play as the Ravens put together 12 hits and scored in five of the six innings played.
Baylee Knorr had two doubles and 2 RBIs to lead the charge, and Clare Heitz also had two hits – including a solo home run – and 2 RBIs. Kassidy James was the third Ravens batter to notch a pair of hits, legging out a triple.
Bailey Selvage walked the first two batters of the game but settled in a groove. She struck out 5 batters through 5 innings of work without allowing a base hit. Lacey Foster came on for the final inning as the Ravens closed out the game in the bottom of the sixth inning due to run-rule. Selvage improves to 13-2 on the season.
Game 2
Heitz continued her hot hitting in the second game, going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and another home run, knocking in 5 runs in the game. Rhiannon Martin slugged a double and home run as well, while James and Megan Forsman also doubled in the game as the Ravens won 10-2 in six innings.
Lily SinghDhillon earned the start in the circle for the Ravens, giving up 2 runs in 4 innings of work to improve her record to 3-1. Foster and Abby Pressgrove closed out the final 2 innings as the Ravens improved to 28-6 on the season and 8-2 in Heart of America play.
The sweep capped off a big day for the Ravens as earlier Wednesday they found out they cracked the top-25, coming in at No. 22 in the national rankings.
The Ravens will hit the road for their next games, a Saturday, April 6 doubleheader at Mount Mercy University.
