WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Benedictine Women's Lacrosse opened up their southern road trip on Monday night taking on No. 5 University of the Cumberlands.
The Patriots limited the No. 9-ranked Ravens in the first half en route to a 19-9 win.
Cumberlands scored 14 goals in the first half, which included a 9-goal second quarter while holding Benedictine to just 4 goals.
Elizabeth Pluta snapped the Ravens scoreless drought at the 7:51 mark of the first quarter on an assist from Chanterra Allen that snapped a 4-0 start by the Patriots.
The Patriots held a 14-4 lead at the half before the two teams matched each other scoring 5 goals each in the second half.
Kiera Russell and Chanterra Allen led the Ravens scoring effort with 3 goals each while Haylee Strough joined Pluta with 1 goal.
Gianna Stelletti suffered the loss in goal, playing the first 30 minutes finishing with 10 saves. Rebecca Wichman led the Ravens with 2 caused turnovers while Russell and Allen combined for 8 draw controls.
Benedictine continues their road trip in Marietta, Ga., on Wednesday as they take on No. 6 Life (Ga.).
