Women's Lacrosse advances to Heart Tournament Championship game

Women's Lacrosse booked their ticket to another conference tournament championship game Wednesday evening.

The (5) Ravens defeated the William Penn University Statesmen 27-2 in the Heart of America Conference Tournament Semifinals.

The Ravens took control of the game from the opening moments. Kaylen Moore opened the scoring and was followed up by goals from Elizabeth Pluta, Alexa Hildenbrand, Margaux Gelbach and Chanterra Allen. By the 2:31 mark of the opening quarter, the Ravens held a 10-0 lead and put the running clock in motion.

With her goal in the first quarter, Allen reached the 100-point mark of the season. Moore also reached a milestone in the first half as the sophomore reached 100 career goals.

By halftime, the Ravens held a 16-1 lead and had notched 10 assists on their 16 goals.

The Ravens continued to control proceedings in the second half as they outscored the Statesmen 11-1 in the final 30 minutes.

The Ravens put 38 shots on goal in the game, assisting on 18 of their 27 goals. Allen finished with a game-high 8 goals to go along with 4 assists. Moore and Kiera Russell each had 5 goals, with Russell dishing out 5 assists and Moore with 4 assists. Elizabeth Pluta scored 4 goals and Alexa Hildenbrand had 3 goals.

The Ravens defense held WPU to 3 shots on goal and forced 20 turnovers.

The Ravens will host the St. Ambrose University Fighting Bees on Saturday, April 20 in the Heart Tournament Championship game. Check back with www.ravenathletics.com for a game time. The Ravens defeated the Fighting Bees 23-4 on April 12 in the regular season.
