(10) Women's Lacrosse earns third Heart win with shutout over William Penn

OSKALOOSA, Iowa – Benedictine Women's Lacrosse continued its unbeaten run in Heart play on Wednesday as the No. 10-ranked Ravens secured a conference shutout on the road against William Penn University.

Benedictine earned a 25-0 win over the Statesmen as they finished with a 44-2 advantage in shots with 39 shots on goal.

Kaylen Moore, the reigning Heart Defensive Player of the Week, scored Benedictine's first goal of the game 33 seconds into the first quarter. Alexa Hildenbrand added the Ravens second goal inside the first minute as the Ravens were off and running.

Kiera Russell scored the Ravens 10th goal of the game to start the mercy-rule running clock with just over one minute remaining in the first quarter as the Ravens took a 10-0 lead into the second quarter. They added 5 more goals in the second quarter as they held the Statesmen without a shot through the first half. Russell got the second-half scoring started with just under 13 minutes remaining in the third quarter as the Ravens added 6 third-quarter goals before finishing off William Penn with a 4-goal fourth quarter.

Both of William Penn's shots were on goal and came during the third quarter where Molly Owen tallied the two saves. Gianna Stalletti earned the start in goal and played the first 30 minutes before Owen finished off the game.

Nine Ravens found the back of the net in the win. Moore was joined by Chanterra Allen with 6 goals, followed by Russell with 5. Elizabeth Pluta scored 3 goals while Christen Michaelides, Haylee Strough, Ainsley Willingham, and Emme Bailey joined Hildenbrand with 1 goal each. Moore finished the game with 5 assists while Pluta, Strough, Russell, and Allen all added 2 each.

Moore finished the game with 15 draw controls and 6 ground balls. Defensively, the Ravens finished with 11 caused turnovers as the Statesmen committed 28 turnovers. Pluta, Solei Geist, Hildenbrand, and Gemma Weinberg all finished with 2 caused turnovers each.

The Ravens remain on the road Saturday, traveling to Marshall, Mo., for another conference game with Missouri Valley College at Noon.
