(10) Women's Lacrosse breaks single-game scoring record in Heart win over Missouri Valley

Marshall, Mo. – It was a record-setting afternoon for (10) Benedictine Women's Lacrosse on Saturday as they took on Missouri Valley College in Heart play.

Alexa Hildenbrand scored the Ravens' final goal of the game with 2 seconds remaining putting their final total at a new program record of 31 as the Ravens earned a 31-2 win over the Vikings. The previous record of 30 goals came in 2021 against the University of St. Mary.

Benedictine opened the game with a barrage of goals as they jumped out to an 8-0 lead inside the first five minutes of play. By the time the horn sounded on the first quarter, they had extended their lead to 13-0 with back-to-back goals from Elizabeth Pluta pushing the Ravens to the running clock mercy rule with 7:32 left in the first quarter.

The Ravens added 8 goals in the second quarter to lead 21-0 at the half before combining for 10 more goals in the second half.

Nine Ravens tallied a goal in the win, led by Pluta with 7. Chanterra Allen added 6 while Kaylen Moore finished with 5. Hildenbrand finished with 4, followed by Emma Bailey with 3 while Haylee Strough and Kiera Russell finished with 2 goals each. Margaux Gelbach and Christien Michaelidis scored 1 goal each. Allen led the Ravens with 6 assists, followed by Michaelidis, Gelbach and Hildenbrand with 3 assists each. Pluta finished with 2 assists while Russell and Strough added 1 assist each.

Moore finished with 20 draw controls while Hildenbrand led the team with 5 ground balls. Russell led the Ravens with 4 caused turnovers while Gelbach was joined by Solei Geist with 3 each. 

Gianna Stelleti earned the win, playing the first 45 minutes in goal before Quincy Dolan finished off the fourth quarter, giving up 2 goals.

Benedictine remains on the road Wednesday, traveling to St. Louis to take on No. 5 Missouri Baptist University before returning home on Friday to host St. Ambrose University in their regular-season finale.
