Benedictine Women's Soccer put 19 shots on frame Wednesday night against Dordt University.
Despite that offensive barrage, the Defenders were able to keep the No. 25-ranked Ravens out of the back of the net en route to a 1-0 upset of Benedictine.
Christine Znidarsic and Elizabeth Mahfood put two shots on goal in the final 2 minutes of play as the Ravens continued to apply offensive pressure on Dordt keeper Jenna Wright. Wright turned away both shots, as she finished the night with 21 saves over 90 minutes in goal.
The two teams played through a scoreless half and the match played into the 64th minute before it saw its first goal scored. The Defenders were able to clean up a cross sent through that was able to beat Mackenzie Korzenecki, after Dordt's Joslyn Terpstra played the ball toward the post to beat Korzenecki.
Benedictine held a 39-13 advantage in shots with a 21-10 advantage in shots on goal. Jenna Wilken led the Ravens with 5 shots on goal while Payton Vogelbacher added 4. Lizzy Gresch, Znidardsic and Madison Casey added 3 shots on goal each.
Korzenecki finished with 9 saves in the loss.
The Ravens host LSU-Shreveport at 11 a.m. on Saturday as they close out their three-match homestead.
