Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer falls at home

Women's Soccer dropped a non-conference match at home Saturday afternoon.

The (25) Ravens lost 2-1 to the LSU-Shreveport Pilots.

After the Ravens held a 1-0 lead at halftime, the Pilots struck quickly in the second half, scoring on a header in the 47th minute to make it 1-1. Another goal off a rebound from Ravens keeper Mackenzie Korzenecki just two minutes later put the Pilots in front 2-1.

The Ravens tried to find an equalizing goal as the second half clock ticked down, but were unable to find that second goal. The Pilots early second-half flurry proved to be the difference.

The Ravens controlled most of the offensive flow in the opening half, but the first big play came on the defensive side. After the Pilots earned a free kick just outside the 18-yard box, Korzenecki made a diving save to keep the visitors off the scoreboard.

Moments later, the Ravens pressure helped lead to the game's opening goal. The front line pressured the Pilots defender to play back to the keeper, who then mishit a ball to her left back. Audrey Bolan stepped forward to the free ball and buried her shot into the net to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute.

Korzenecki made a routine save later in the half on a Pilots corner kick to preserve the lead and the Ravens entered halftime with a 1-0 lead. The Ravens created 8 corner kick opportunities in the first half, with the Pilots managing one corner kick.

The Ravens did have opportunities in the second half, finishing with 24 shots in the match and 7 of those on goal, and accumulating 11 corner kicks. However, the Pilots kept the Ravens from getting any more clear shots on goal after Bolan's first-half strike.

Next up for the Ravens (1-3-1) will be a road contest at Concordia (Neb.) on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
