Women's Soccer improved its winning streak to five matches on Saturday afternoon.
The Ravens defeated the Clarke University Pride, 2-0, at home on Legacy Field.
The Ravens scored in the 5
th minute when
Rowan Yows deflected an errant pass off the Clarke keeper and
Payton Vogelbacher was there to knock the ball into the open net to put the Ravens up 1-0.
The Ravens made that goal stand the remainder of the first half, taking a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
The second half was a physical battle that saw the teams scoreless for the first 30 minutes. The Ravens earned a free kick from distance with just over 12 minutes to play, and
Madison Casey hit a perfect shot into the upper left corner to push the Ravens lead to 2-0.
That proved to be more than enough as the Ravens held on for the clean-sheet victory. During the current five-match winning streak, the Ravens have outscored opponents 18-1.
The Ravens (10-3-1, 6-2-1 Heart) will look to keep that going when they play No. 16 Central Methodist University at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15 at home.
