Volleyball snaps losing streak with sweep over Culver-Stockton

CANTON, Mo. – Benedictine Volleyball closed out the regular season on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Culver-Stockton College.

The win moves Benedictine into a tie for eighth in the final regular-season Heart standings with Mount Mercy, who they hold the tie-breaker over based on beating the Mustangs head to head.

The win over the Wildcats snapped a 6-match losing streak. Saturday, the Ravens earned a 25-17, 25-21, 25-18 win to close out the regular season with a 12-15 overall record and 8-10 Heart record.

Benedictine finished the match hating .219, opening up the match with their best attack percentage at .290 in the first set.

Wren VanCleave anchored the attack, finishing the match with 38 assists. Three Ravens finished in double figures in kills, led by Barbara Terra with 12. Bridget O'Sullivan added 11 while JoJo Vander Woude finished with 10.

Lainee Mustain was the lone Raven to reach double figures in kills with 15. Vander Woude led the front line with 1 solo block and 3 block assists while Rayleen Gladden, VanCleave and Terra finished with 3 block assists each. 

The Heart Championship Tournament gets underway on Nov. 8 with the Quarterfinals as the top four seeds will host the round.
