Women's Basketball earns road win over Culver-Stockton

CANTON, Mo. – Benedictine Women's Basketball bounced back from its first loss of the Heart schedule on Saturday with a 60-52 win over Culver-Stockton College.

The Ravens turned a 32-30 halftime lead into an 8-point win after limiting the Wildcats to just 8 points in the third quarter.

Benedictine scored 12 straight to open the game before Culver-Stockton. The Wildcats held the Ravens to 5 points over the final 5 minutes of the quarter which allowed Culver-Stockton to close with 4 points at the quarter break. 

Nicole Storck opened the second quarter with a 6-0 run of her own that pushed Benedictine back ahead by 10 points. Culver-Stockton worked its way back into the game, and grabbed a brief lead with just over 90 seconds remaining in the half before Riley Bruggeman hit a 3-pointer give the Ravens back the lead at the half, 32-30.

Benedictine maintained the lead throughout the second half, pushing back ahead by as much as 15 points in the third quarter as they held the Wildcats scoreless for nearly three minutes that allowed them 51-38 headed into the fourth quarter. 

Culver-Stockton was able to erase a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit to pull within 7 points, but the Ravens got a layup from Kelli Storck and free throws from One Deters and Nicole Storck to seal the win.

Nicole Storck led the Ravens with a game-high 22 points on 9 of 14 shooting. Bruggeman finished with 13 points, hitting 3 of the Ravens 4 3-pointers while Addie Kane adde 9 points off the bench. 

Benedictine finished with a 34-20 advantage in points in the paint while they finished with 13 second-chance points as they finished with 37 total rebounds. 

The Ravens remain on the road, traveling to Marshall, Mo., on Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. game with Missouri Valley College.
