Women's Basketball earned a comfortable win at home Saturday afternoon.
The Ravens defeated the Missouri Baptist University Spartans, 75-48, taking control from the very beginning.
The Ravens had a strong first half, opening up a 21-point halftime lead thanks to solid shooting and good defense.
The Ravens forced 14 Spartans turnovers in the opening half, turning it into 18 points on the offensive end of the court. The Ravens also knocked down seven 3-pointers in the first half, led by four from
Oen Deters as she paced the Ravens with 14 points in the first 20 minutes.
The Ravens built upon their lead in the third quarter, entering the final period with a 58-33 lead. They pushed that lead over 30 points at times in the fourth quarter, allowing every reserve a chance to get several minutes of action on the court. Ultimately, the Ravens closed the game out with a 27-point win.
Riley Bruggeman had a team-high 20 points for the Ravens, also adding 6 assists and 2 steals. Deters scored 2 points in the second half to finish with 16, a new career high. She also had 3 steals.
Makayla Baughman also hit double-figures for the Ravens, scoring 13 points.
Nicole Storck had 8 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.
As a team, the Ravens shot 39.4% from the field and sank 10 3-pointers. They moved the ball well, accumulating 21 assists on 26 made baskets.
The Ravens (9-3, 5-1 Heart) will step out of conference play next week as they host (RV) Northwestern (Iowa) at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, and then No. 1 Dordt University (Iowa) at 4 p.m. Saturday. Both games are at home.
