Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball downed by Vikings

Women's Basketball suffered a home loss Saturday afternoon.

The (RV) Ravens fell to the (RV) Grand View University Vikings, 59-47, in the final regular season contest of the season.

The Vikings took a 4-point lead into halftime, but the Ravens battled back to tie the score, 38-38, on a pair of Lauryn Dubbert free throws with 2 minutes left in the third period. However, Grand View answered with 6-straight points to take a 44-38 lead into the fourth quarter.

Back-to-back 3-pointers made it a 14-0 Vikings run early in the fourth quarter, giving Grand View a 52-38 lead with 7:26 to play in the game. Another pair of Dubbert free throws stopped the Vikings streaking offense.

A 3-pointer by Kennedy Nicholson got the Ravens back within single digits, but the Vikings answered with their own triple, giving the visitors a 55-44 lead with 2:18 left on the clock.

The Ravens were unable to respond as the Vikings went on to close out the 12-point win.

The Ravens struggled to shoot the ball, converting 25% on their field goal attempts and 3-point shots. Nicholson scored a team-high 10 points, followed by Dubbert with 9 points and Nicole Storck with 7 points. Storck added 9 rebounds, Jennifer Jacobs had 8 rebounds, and Josie Weishaar finished with 7 boards.

The Ravens defense was solid throughout the game, limiting the Vikings to 19 points below their season average and 36.2% shooting, but were unable to keep up with Grand View on the other end of the court.

Next up for the Ravens will be the opening round of the Heart of America Conference Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 25. The Ravens will be the No. 3 seed and will host No. 6-seed Park University at 7 p.m.
