OTTAWA – Benedictine Men's Lacrosse opened up Heart play on Wednesday with a game against long-time opponent Ottawa University.

The (RV) Ravens jumped out to an 8-0 lead after 15 minutes of play and never looked back, securing a shutout over the Braves to open up conference play with a 22-0 win.

Mason Eberle set the tone for Benedictine offensively, scoring the opening goal of the game inside the first two minutes of action. By the time the horn sounded to end the first quarter, Eberle had found the back of the net four times on his way to 9 goals on 9 shots on goal. His total goals are the second-most in program history in a single game behind the record of 10 seed by former Raven Michael Hogan during the 2022 season.

Benedictine finished with a 50-12 advantage in shots with 30 shots on goal. 

Defensively, CJ Besuzzi went the distance in goal, recording 6 saves to earn the win. Wyatt Haversack recorded 3 caused turnovers as the Ravens finished with a team total of 8. Jack Couri won 14 of 23 face-offs for the Ravens and finished with a team-high 10 ground balls as they earned a team total of 53.

Mac Postel Jr. followed Eberle with 5 goals and a team-high 6 assists. Jonah Salem, Luke Regar, and Dom Irving scored 2 goals each while Malcom Castronova and Jacob Meyer added 1 goal each. Castronova and Salem finished with 2 assists each while Jack Northrup, Charlie Schwartz, and Keegan Lindsay added 1 assist each as Benedictine recorded 13 total assists on their 22 goals.

Benedictine hosts Missouri Valley College at 4 p.m. as they celebrate Senior Day and 10 seasons of Lacrosse at Benedictine.
