Men's Lacrosse moves to 2-0 in Heart play in first home game of the season

Benedictine Men's Lacrosse played its first game at home on Saturday and finished with a record-breaking performance.

The Ravens used 93 shots in a 15-2 win over Missouri Valley College as they celebrated Senior Day and 10 years of Benedictine Lacrosse while moving to 2-0 in the Heart. Those 93 shots set a new program record for shots, breaking the previous record of 76 that was set against Clarke University in 2022.

Benedictine jumped out to a 5-0 lead on goals from Brayden Hope, Malcom Castronova, Mac Postel Jr., Mason Eberle, and Jacob Meyer.

By halftime, the Ravens pushed their advantage to 7-0 and they scored 11 straight before the Vikings scored their first goal of the game with just under 4 minutes left in the third quarter.

The Ravens finished the game with 48 shots on goal as 8 players found the back of the net. Eberle led the way with 4 goals, followed by Jonah Salem and Hope with 3 each. Postel Jr., Meyer, and Castronova were joined by Dom Irving and Luke Reger with 1 goal each. Postel Jr., Salem, and Irving finished with 2 assists each while Meyer was joined by Aiden Nicholson and Mateo Herberts with 1 assist each.

Jerry Dalrymple earned the start in goal, and the senior answered the call on Senior Day. He finished with 4 saves while allowing just two goals as the Benedictine defense limited the Vikings to just 10 shots.

Missouri Valley finished with 57 turnovers in the loss with Benedictine tallying 38 caused turnovers. Nicholson led the way with 7, followed by Jack Northrup with 6 and Charley McGlinn with 5.

Jac Couri went 10 of 17 on face-offs for the Ravens. Northrup led the team with 8 ground balls, followed by Postel Jr. with 7 while Salem and Nicholson finished with 6 each.

Benedictine remains at home on Wednesday, hosting Columbia (Mo.) College at 6 p.m.
