Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse beats Clarke 13-9 in penultimate home game

With three games remaining in the regular season, Benedictine Men's Lacrosse earned a critical win towards the Heart postseason on Thursday night.

Benedictine earned a 13-9 win that was fueled by 52 shots as they beat Clarke University on Legacy Field.

The win allows the Ravens to keep pace inside the top four in the Heart Standings, two games behind conference front-runner William Penn and a game behind Heart No. 2 St. Ambrose.

Against Clarke, the Ravens use a 3-0 run to end the second quarter that allowed them to take a 7-4 lead into halftime. They scored 3 goals each in the third and fourth quarters while allowed the Pride to score two in each quarter en route to the 4-goal win.

Benedictine never trailed against Clarke, despite four ties until the last 4 minutes of the second quarter. At that point, Benedictine scored 2 unanswered from Joey Calabria and Harry Milligan to lead by 3 at the half.

Clarke closed within 2 goals midway through the third quarter before Benedictine outscored the Pride 4-2 over the final 22 minutes of the game to earn the win.

Calabria and Milligan led the Ravens with 4 points (3 goals, 1 assist) while Luke Reger finished with 3 goals. Mac Postel Jr. finished with 2 assists and 1 goal, while Brayden Hope added 2 goals and 1 assist.

Jac Couri helped control possession throughout the game for the Ravens, winning 16 of 24 face-offs for Benedictine. Charley McGlinn led the Ravens with 4 caused turnovers while Couri finished with 8 ground balls.

CJ Besuzzi earned the win in goal for the Ravens, playing all 60 minutes with 8 saves.

Benedictine hosts William Penn at 1 p.m. Saturday in their regular-season home finale, before traveling to Fremont, Neb., next week to close out the regular season with Midland University.
