LEAVENWORTH – Benedictine Baseball played the return game of its home-and-home series with the University of St. Mary on Wednesday and earned a 13-9 win over the Spires.
Headed into its conference bye week over the Easter Holiday weekend, the Ravens got 13 players into the game at the plate and in the field, with 5 pitchers combining on the hill in the win.
Charlie Elsten earned the start on the hill and opened with a scoreless first. Aiden Leonard threw the next 2 innings, giving up 3 runs off 3 hits with 3 strikeouts. Paul Door threw the next 3 innings and became the pitcher of the record when the game was official to earn the win. He gave up 4 earned runs off 2 hits with 2 strikeouts before Evan DeMint and Nolan Haas finished the game on the hill.
Benedictine recorded 11 hits, only one of which was for extra bases in a double from Dominic Ferrari. Carson Hintz went 2 for 3 with 4 RBI, while JK Sparks went 2 for 5 with a run scored. Matthew Gabriel and Cooper Milroy recorded 2 RBI each, while Brice Martin, Matthew Johnson, and Jeshua Bertaud added an RBI each.
Out of the bye week, the Ravens will host a four-game series with Culver-Stockton College on Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26.
