Ravens Softball picked up a split against the Baker University Wildcats in the final doubleheader of the regular season on Saturday.
The (RV) Ravens lost the opener, 8-1, before bouncing back with a 2-1 win in the final game.
Game 1
The Ravens and Wildcats were knotted up at 1-1 after two innings of play, but Baker took control in the middle innings.
The Wildcats plated 5 runs in the third inning, then 2 more in the fourth to take a 7-run lead, going on to win 8-1.
Kaelyn Fisher knocked in the Ravens only run of the game, scoring Chloe Strickland with a double in the bottom of the first. Fisher and Strickland had the Ravens only two hits of the game.
Lily SinghDhillon (12-7) started in the circle for the Ravens. She pitched 2.2 innings, giving up 6 earned runs. Lacey Foster came on in relief, giving up 2 runs in 4.1 innings of work.
Game 2
The Ravens responded with a win in the second game Saturday afternoon. Bailey Selvage pitched a gem, going the distance for the complete-game win. Selvage (13-10) struck out 4 batters and allowed just 3 hits and 1 run.
Strickland scored both Ravens runs to secure the 2-1 win. Strickland scored on a ground out by Fisher in the bottom of the first, then earned another walk in the third inning and scored on a Rhiannon Martin single.
Riley Kennedy, Megan Forsman and Renay Myers also singled for the Ravens.
The Ravens (30-20, 15-9 Heart) will head to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for the Heart of America Conference Tournament hosted by Mount Mercy University. The tournament begins Thursday, May 1. The Ravens were the runner-up in the 2024 Heart Tournament.
