Men's Soccer battled to a scoreless draw against one of the top teams in the NAIA at home Thursday evening.
The Ravens and (17) Mid-America Christian University Evangels played a tight, 0-0 contest in the Ravens home-opener.
The first half was even as neither team developed many good scoring chances. The Ravens managed 1 shot on goal while the Evangels had 2 shots on goal. Both teams forced a pair of corner kicks, but ultimately neither team was able to find a goal in the opening 45 minutes.
Ravens keeper
Payton Travis came up big late in the half, making a diving save to his left to keep MACU off the board.
The Evangels were a little more on the front foot in the second half, pressuring the Ravens defense. However, the Ravens were up to the challenge and kept MACU off the board as Travis finished the contest with 2 saves.
The Ravens nearly found a late winner as
Kody Argaez had a look on a breakaway with 40 seconds left to play, but the Evangels defender was able to backtrack and knock the ball away before Argaez could put a shot on goal.
The Ravens (1-0-1) have another stiff test on deck as they face (RV) Williams Baptist at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30 back on Legacy Field.
