Men's Soccer picked up a home win against a ranked opponent Saturday afternoon.
The Ravens defeated the No. 25 Williams Baptist University Eagles, 1-0, thanks to a second-half goal.
The game-winner came with 33 minutes left to play in the contest. Nicholas Rowe gained advantage on the left side and sent a cross into the box, finding Zachary Pedersen for the header and a 1-0 lead.
Pedersen's goal was all the Ravens needed as they notched their second-straight clean sheet in three days. The Eagles tried to press for an equalizer but the Ravens held their ground and denied any potential scoring opportunities. Ravens keeper Payton Travis recorded 4 saves in the win as the Ravens improve to 2-0-1.
The scoreboard was a bit misleading when the teams entered halftime at a scoreless draw. Despite no goals being scored, both teams created multiple chances in their attacking thirds.
The Ravens had 5 shots on goal in the opening half, but the Eagles keeper was up to the task with 5 saves. The Ravens finished the game with 8 shots on goal, compared to 4 for the Eagles.
Both teams had 4 corner kick opportunities in the first 45 minutes, with WBU finishing the match with a 7-5 advantage in corners.Â
Next up for the Ravens will be their third-straight home match, this one a 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3 match against Concordia, Neb.
