KANSAS CITY – With the first full weekend in the books, the Heart of America Athletic Conference has announced the first set of weekly award winners, and a member of the Benedictine Men's Soccer program has been recognized.
Payton Travis has been named the Heart Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, presented by WinWon, for his efforts last week for the Ravens in goal.
Travis started both games on the week, registering two shutouts in 180 minutes in goal. The Ravens posted a 1-0-1 record on the week, playing to a draw with No. 17 Mid-America Christian on Wednesday. They followed that up on Saturday morning with a 1-0 win over No. 25 Williams Baptist to move to 2-0-1 on the season.
For his part, Travis registered 2 saves against MACU and 4 saves in the win over Williams Baptist on Saturday.
Benedictine remains at home on Wednesday, hosting Concordia (Neb.) at 7:30 p.m. on Legacy Field.
