Graceland University avoided a sweep at the hands of Benedictine on Saturday night, taking the Men's Soccer match 4-2.

After the Ravens got the better of the Yellowjackets during a home football game and home women's soccer match, two goals inside the first 16 minutes of the men's match proved to be the difference make un the upset over (RV) Benedictine.

Graceland was able to control possession early in the match, finding holes in Benedictine's defense that headed into play on Saturday night, had allowed just 1 goal through the first 6 matches of the season. Graceland scored during the 13th minute and 16th minutes to take the lead.

As the match neared the intermission, the Ravens settled in offensively and begin to connect offensively. Eliah Froeyland cut Benedictine's deficit in half during the 38th minute when he scored off an assist from Manuel Abello. Abello's initial shot went off the crossbar and Froeyland was able to take the rebound and beat the Graceland keeper.

The Yellowjackets held on to 1-goal advantage through the half before adding their third goal during the 48th minute.

After Graceland extended their advantage with a goal in the 70th minute, Froeyland scored again, this time off an assist from Sam Gutierrez during the 81st minute.

Graceland held Benedictine to just one more shot over the final 9 minutes of the match as they held on for the 2-goal win.
