Men's Basketball dropped a home conference game Wednesday night.
The Ravens lost to the Peru State College Bobcats, 74-65.
After holding the visitors to just 22 points in the opening half, the Ravens saw the Bobcats find a good offensive rhythm in the second half. PSC outscored the Ravens 52-40 in the second half to earn the 9-point win.
After the Ravens scored the first basket of the second half, the Bobcats rattled off a 10-0 lead to take a 32-27 lead and Peru didn't trail the remainder of the contest.
Brycen LaRue scored 15 points to lead the way for the Ravens.
Jack Vander Woude and
Deaglan Sullivan each scored 9 points, and
Aiden Sullivan and
Drew Purdy each chipped in 8 points.
The Ravens shot 46% from the field and were 7-of-15 from behind the 3-point line in the second half, but shot just 7-17 from the free throw line. The Bobcats shot 44% from the field but knocked down 19-25 from the charity stripe.
The Ravens took a 3-point lead into halftime as both teams struggled to match their normal scoring pace. The Ravens entered the game averaging 75 points per game and the Bobcats averaged 79 points per game.
However, the halftime score was just 25-22. The Ravens shot 41% from the field in the opening 20 minutes, but turned the ball over 11 times. Defensively, the Ravens held PSC to 32% shooting and forced 8 turnovers.
Both teams shot better in the second half, but it was the Bobcats coming out ahead.
The Ravens (8-8, 4-4 Heart) will travel to Clarke University for a 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 game.
