(4) Football set new season high for total offense in road win over CMU

Ravens finsihed with 7.1 yards per play and a total of 494 yards en route to 52-14 win

FAYETTE, Mo. – No. 4 Benedictine Football set a new season high for total yards offensively on Saturday night as they earned their second win in Heart South play, beating Central Methodist University 52-14.

Benedictine finished with 494 yards on offense on 70 plays as they averaged 7.1 yards per play en route to their sixth win of the season.

The Ravens matched their season high for passing touchdowns, as Patrick Heitert connected on passes of 9-yards to Kameron Dover, 38 yards to Joseph Lagafuaina and 52 yards to Xiomar Hernandez to cap off their scoring for the night. Heitert finished with 261 yards off 14 of 21 while he also rushed for 24 yards off 8 carries while scoring on a 1-yard rush. 

Benedictine led 14-0 after the first two touchdown passes of the game. After CMU scored its first touchdown to cut the Ravens lead in half, Heitert answered with his rush early in the second quarter.

At that point, the Raven special teams added a touchdown of their own. Dylan Witherspoon blocked a punt for the Eagles that Isaiah Hasten scooped up and returned for a 14-yard touchdown.

Christian Klobe tacked on a 24-yard field goal before the midpoint of the second quarter and Brendan Haisenleder score the first of two rushing touchdowns to send the Ravens into halftime with a 38-7 lead.

Haisenleder scored his second touchdown midway through the third quarter before Hernandez's 52-yard receiving touchdown to push Benedictine ahead 52-7.

The Ravens finished with 218 yards rushing, led by Hernandez with 90 off 10 carries. Lagafuaina finished with 62 yards off 3 receptions while Hernandez added 56 yards on 2 receptions. 

Defensively, the Ravens had 29 players record at least one tackle. Ben Gilliland finished with 6 tackles, including 1.5 of the Ravens 8 tackles for a loss. Gabe Adams added 2 tackles for a loss while Kyle Jordan recorded a sack. Kolbe Sexton recorded an interception. Hasten added 2 tackles and was in one for a loss to go along with his block punt touchdown return.

Benedictine returns home on Saturday to celebrate Community Day and Senior Day at 1 p.m. against MNU.
