CEDAR RAPIDS – (RV) Benedictine Women's Basketball picked up another regular-season sweep on Saturday, earning an 82-44 win over Mount Mercy.
The win for the Ravens gave the Ravens three straight road wins where they converted 20 or more points off their opponents turnovers as they finished the game with 25 points off turnovers.
Benedictine closed out the first quarter on a 15-2 run that allowed to turn an 8-7 lead into 23-9 lead headed into the second quarter. The Ravens continued to pull ahead as the second quarter played out, opening the quarter with a 9-6 advantage to pull ahead by 17 points. The Mustangs closed their deficit down to 15 by halftime as the Ravens held a 17-16 lead in the quarter to lead 40-25 at the half.
Defensively, the Ravens held the Mustangs to just 19 more points in the second half as they pulled away for the 38-point win – their second largest margin of victory in Heart play this season.
Benedictine held Mount Mercy to 3 of 13 from the field in the third quarter and 4 of 16 in the fourth quarter as the Ravens went 7 of 15 and 10 of 19 to close out the win.
Four Ravens reached double figures in the win, led by Riley Bruggeman with 24. Kyla Fitzgerald was close behind with 21 while Makayla Baughman and Hattie Gros added 11 points each.
The win pushes the Ravens winning streak to 12 as they return home for the final time during the regular season on Wednesday, hosting Park University at 5:30 p.m.
