Men's Basketball picked up another important win Wednesday night.
The Ravens defeated the Park University Pirates, 79-63, as they continue to battle for a spot in the Heart Conference Tournament.
The Ravens took control of the game early on as a 12-0 run put them up 28-12 just 10 minutes into the game. Defense turned into offense early as the Ravens had 7 points off four Park turnovers in the early minutes.
By halftime, the Ravens had increased their lead to 19 points, 45-26, with 17 points coming in transition. The Ravens also got inside well, scoring 26 points in the paint.
The Ravens shot 44% from the field in the opening 20 minutes and limited the Pirates to 33% shooting.
The Ravens pushed their lead to 23 points early in the second half before the Pirates chipped away. With 10 minutes left to play, Park trailed by 13 points but the Ravens never let them get any closer.
Deaglan Sullivan's basket with just over 3 minutes to play gave the Ravens a 25-point lead, their largest of the night.
Sullivan scored 13 points and was one of four Ravens in double figures.
Jack Vander Woude scored a team-high 19 points and had 4 rebounds,
Preston Reynolds filled up the scoresheet with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals, Sullivan added 8 rebounds and 4 assists, and
Brycen LaRue had 12 points and 4 assists.
The Ravens once again shared the ball well, dishing out 20 assists as a team and they shot 46.4% from the field. Defensively, the Ravens held the Pirates to 41% from the field and forced 12 turnovers.
The Ravens (15-12, 11-8 Heart) pick up a crucial conference win down the stretch as several teams are still battling for a position in the Heart Conference Tournament. The Ravens have one more chance to pick up a regular season win when they take on MidAmerica Nazarene University at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21 in Olathe.
