OLATHE – MNU hit a jumper with 0.6 seconds remaining in the game to cap off a comeback win against Benedictine Men's Basketball.
The Ravens missed a shot with 12 seconds remaining in the game that set up MNU with a rebound and a timeout. Coming out of the timeout, Malachi Bryant hit a contest jumper at the top of the paint to put the Pioneers up 63-62 and give MNU the win.
MNU led by as much 9 points inside the first 6 minutes of the game. The game went back-and-forth before Benedictine took its first lead on a 3-pointer from Drew Purdy with just over 7 minutes before halftime. Brycen LaRue pushed the Ravens to its latest lead of the first half with an old-fashion 3-point play with 51 seconds remaining before Benedictine took a 37-32 lead into halftime.
Benedictine maintained their advantage through the first 13 minutes of the second half before MNU tied the game at 50-all. The Ravens answered to push ahead by 6 points the first time on a free throw from Preston Reynolds and again with 2:31 left on a basket from Deaglan Sullivan.
MNU outscored Benedictine 9-2 over the final 2:31 to earn the comeback win.
Sullivan finished with 19 points to lead the Ravens in scoring. Reynolds added 17 while LaRue finished with 14.
The PRS ratings are still be finalized to determine the 8 teams that will qualify for the Heart Men's Basketball Championship starting on Tuesday on the campus sites of the top four seeds in the field.
