Men's Basketball picked up a big win Wednesday night.
The Ravens defeated the Culver-Stockton College Wildcats, 74-56, for their third-straight win.
The Ravens took a 9-point lead into the break, taking advantage of Culver-Stockton mistakes. The Ravens forced 6 Wildcat turnovers in the opening 20 minutes, turning that into 12 points on the offensive end.
Eight different Ravens scored in the opening half with
Drew Purdy's 8 points leading the way.
Deaglan Sullivan added 7 points, including a put-back just before the halftime buzzer to give the Ravens a 33-24 lead.
The Wildcats trimmed an early second-half, double-digit Ravens lead down to 7 points with just over 12 minutes to play, but the Ravens answered.
First,
Bence Duka scored on a pick-and-roll into the paint, then Purdy knocked down a corner 3-pointer. After another Ravens defensive stop, Sullivan scored on a drive to the paint to put the Ravens up 52-38 with 10:23 left in the game.
The Ravens continued to build on that lead the remainder of the half as ball movement began to carve up the Wildcats defense. Aidan Sullivan set up
Preston Reynolds and
Jack Vander Woude for baskets, then Vander Woude repaid Aidan Sullivan with a good luck for a basket in the paint. By the time Reynolds found
Deaglan Sullivan streaking into the paint, the Ravens had built a 20-point lead, eventually winning by 18.
Deaglan Sullivan finished with 21 points and 9 rebounds, Purdy scored 11 and had 6 boards, and
Brycen LaRue scored 10 points. Reynolds added 7 points and 8 rebounds. The Ravens finished with 18 assists as a team.
Next up for the Ravens (13-10, 9-6 Heart) is a trip to the top team in the conference. They'll play at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 at No. 21 Graceland University.
