(1) Women's Lacrosse earns 16-15 overtime win at (2) Cumberlands (Ky.)

Benedictine improves to 6-2 all time against the Patriots

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Top-ranked Benedictine Women's Lacrosse earned its first win at No. 2-ranked University of the Cumberlands on Tuesday night in overtime.

Lorelei Siegel scored with 1:24 remaining in overtime to give the Ravens a 16-1 5 win over the Patriots. Tuesday's win was a rematch up the 2025 NAIA Championship Game as Benedictine improved to 6-2 in the all-time against Cumberlands.

Cumberlands scored 3 straight open the game, before Benedictine scored its first goal by Kaylen Moore late in the first quarter to trail 3-1 after 15 minutes. Moore's goal opened up a 4-0 run by the Ravens as Kiera Russell, Siegel and Alexa Hildenbrand scored three straight open the second quarter and give the Ravens a 4-3 lead. 

Benedictine outscored Cumberlands 8-3 in the second quarter to take a 9-6 lead into the half. After Cumberlands took a 6-5 lead midway through the quarter, Benedictine rattled off four straight from Siegel and Moore to take a 3- goal lead into halftime.

The Ravens maintained the lead throughout the entire third quarter, leading 14-11, with 15 minutes remaining in the game. After Russell scored to open the fourth quarter and pushed the Ravens lead to 5 goals, the Patriots held the Ravens scoreless over the remainder of the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Three of the four goals scored by Cumberlands in the fourth quarter came either on man-up shots, or straight off free-position shots to send the game into overtime. The Patriots finished the game converting 3 of 5 free-position shots while Benedictine only attempted one. 

Siegel led the Ravens with 5 goals on 14 shots. Moore, and Russell added 3 goals each while Moore finished with a team-high 4 assists. Hildenbrand and Mackenna Hill added 2 goals while Regan Engle round out the Ravens scoring with 1 goal. The Ravens were only credited with 6 assists on their 16 goals as Lile Chekas and Hildenbrand were credited with 1 assist each.

Defensively, Moore recorded 9 of the Ravens 20 draw controls as Russell added 6. Benedictine finished with a 20-13 advantage on draw controls. The Ravens finished with 20 caused turnovers – which is tied for the third most in program history – as Russell and Siegel finished with 5 each. Chekas added 4 while Emma Rushing finished with 3. Siegel and Molly Owen led the Ravens with 5 ground balls each.

Owen earned the win in goal for the Ravens, finishing with 7 saves.

The Ravens wrap up their three-game Spring Break trip on Thursday in Indianapolis, against No. 10 Marian University at 5 p.m. ET (4 p.m. CT) before returning home on Saturday to open Heart play against Ottawa at 4 p.m. on Legacy Field.
