(1) Women's Lacrosse closes out Spring Break trip with win over (10) Marian

INDIANAPOLIS – No. 1 Benedictine Women's Lacrosse wrapped up its Spring Break road trip with a 19-3 win over No. 10 Marian University. 

The Ravens used 33 shots and 28 shot on goal to close out the trip 3-0 with a pair of Top 10 wins.

Marian struck first, scoring inside the first 90 seconds of the game. The Ravens answered with three straight from Regan Engle, Mackenna Hill and Kaylen Moore as Moore was credited with an assist on Hill's goal. By the end of the first quarter, the Ravens led 5-2 and after shutting out the Knights in the second quarter to  lead 11-2 at the half.

Kiera Russell scored Benedictine's first goal of the third quarter to push the Ravens advantage to 10 goals before Marian cut the lead down to 9 at 12-3 with 9:46 remaining, The Ravens shutout the Knights the remainder of the game to earn the 16-goal win.

Hill finished the game with 8 points (3 goals, 5 assists) while Moore added 7 points (5 goals, 2 assists). Hill won 6 of Benedictine's 16 draw controls while Moore finished with 4. 

Offensively, Russell and Engle were joined by Lile Chekas, Alexa Hildenbrand, and Izzie Venarsky with 2 goals while Lorelei Siegel matched Moore with 7 points, scoring 1 goal with 6 assists. Chekas and Engle added 1 assist each.

Defensively, outside of the draw controls from Hill and Moore, the Ravens finished with 10 caused turnovers led by Moore and Victoria Majden with 2 each. Molly Owen led the Ravens with 6 ground balls. Kaylen Moore followed with 4, while Russell and Ava Moore added 3 each. Owen finished with 11 saves – her new season high – over 60 minutes in goal to earn the win.

Benedictine opens up Heart play on Saturday with a game against Ottawa University at 4 p.m. on Legacy Field. The Ravens previously played a non-conference game against Ottawa on the road on Feb. 21 where they earned a 25-1 win over the Braves.
