LIBERTY, Mo. – Benedictine Women's Lacrosse wrapped up its non-conference schedule on Wednesday as the No. 1-ranked Ravens earned an 18-10 win over William Jewell College.
The two teams played to a 4-4 tie after the first quarter before Mackenna Hill scored inside the first 4 minutes of the second quarter off an assist from Izzie Venarsky to give the Ravens a 5-4 lead.
Benedictine led the remainder of the game, pushing ahead by 4 points at the half and after the third quarter, they led 15-7 en route to the 8-goal win.
Six Ravens scored in the win for Benedictine. Lorelei Siegel finished with 5 goals and 2 assists as she reached the 100 career goal mark as a Raven. Hill was joined by Alexa Hildenbrand with 4 goals and 1 assist each. Lile Chekas added 2 goals and 2 assists, Kaylen Moore scored 2 goals with 1 assist while Kiera Russell 1 goal and 1 assist. Venarsky added 2 assists to round out the Ravens offensive efforts.
Moore led the team with 7 draw controls, while Russell adde 5. Russell and Siegel led the defensive effort with 2 caused turnovers each while Moore was one of 12 Ravens with a ground ball, leading the way with 3.
Molly Owen earned the win in goal, recording 5 saves.
Benedictine remains on the road for their next two games as they get back to Heart play. They take on UHSP in St. Louis on Saturday and then travel to Canton, Mo., on Saturday to take on Culver-Stockton.
