ST. LOUIS – Top-ranked Benedictine Women's Lacrosse returned to conference play on Saturday with another convincing win over University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy of St. Louis.
The Ravens earned a 28-1 win over the Eutetics to move to 2-0 in Heart play.
Lile Chekas opened the scoring for the Ravens, scoring 25 seconds into the game. The Ravens pushed the lead to 9-0 after the first quarter and it was Lorelei Siegel who pushed the Raven to a 10-0 advantage early in the second quarter off an assist from Bronwhyn Segal.
With a running clock the remainder of the game, the Ravens pushed their advantage to 14-0 at the half before scoring 7 goals each in the third and fourth quarters to earn the 27-goal win.
The Ravens finished with a 54-5 advantage in shots with 42 shots on goal.
Siegel finished the game with 6 goals and 4 assists while Emma Rushing added 6 goals. Kaylen Moore finished with 4 goals and 2 assists followed by Chekas and Kiera Russell with 3 goals each. Alexa Hildenbrand scored 2 goals, followed by Segal, Izzie Venarsly, Mackenna Hill, and Addy Horn with 1 goal each. Hildenbrand matched Siegel with 4 assists while Hill added 2 of her own.
Defensively, the Ravens earned 24 draw controls led by Moore with 8 and Vanarsky with 5. Ainsley Willingham finished with 3 caused turnovers.
Molly Owen earned the win in goal, finishing with 3 saves over the first 30 minutes of play. Monica Klecan and Morgan Wassenberg finished off the game.
Benedictine remains on the road Sunday, traveling to Canton, Mo., for a Heart game with Culver-Stockton at 10 a.m.
