Benedictine Baseball bounced back inside Olsen Stadium this weekend, taking a four-game series over Park University.
Friday, the Ravens opened the series with a pair of extra-inning walk-offs, taking both games by finals of 4-3. Saturday, the Ravens combined to score 22 runs, beating Park 12-5 in game 3 an 10-3 in game 4.
Game 1: Benedictine 4, Park 3 - 9 innings
Daniel Ornelas singled into right field to score Cooper Milroy in the bottom of the ninth to give the Ravens the series-opening win.
Ryan Jackson earned the win in relief of Nic Mozingo. Mozingo threw the fist 5 innings, giving up 3 runs off 6 hits with 6 strikeouts before Jackson threw the final 4 innings and was the pitcher of the record when the Ravens scored the game-winning run in the ninth.
Brice Martin led the Ravens at the plate, going 2 for 4 with an RBI and run scored.
Game 2: Benedictine 4, Park 3 - 8 innings
Brylan Haas served up the game-winning hit for the Ravens in game 2 on Friday, scoring Martin on the bottom of the eighth inning.
After Anthony Sanders earned the start on the hill, he was followed by Ethan Arnold, Jackson and Ben Bowman out of the pen Sanders went 5.1 innings, holding Park to 1 runoff 4 hits with 4 strikeouts. Arnold recorded a pair of outs before Jackson pitched an inning, allowing 2 runs off 2 hits. Bowman earned the win, throwing the final inning while facing just 4 batters.
Martin and Ornelas each recorded a double at the plate while Martin scoring 2 of the Ravens 4 runs as Benedictine was limited to just hits in the win.
Game 3: Benedictine 12, Park 5
The Ravens opened the game with grand slam from Michael McCavitt in the bottom of the first and never looked back en route to their third win of the series.
Scott Matzke earned the win for the Ravens on the hill, throwing 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs off 6 hits with 8 strikeouts before Nolan Haas finished off the game.
Elijah Reeves went 2 for 3 at the plate with a double, Martin went 2 for 3 and McCavitt went 2 for 3 while Milroy went 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored.
Game 4: Benedictine 10, Park 3
Benedictine plated home 4 runs again in the bottom of the first and never looked back as they clinch the series sweep in the final game on Saturday.
Carson Hintz singled up the middle to scored Ornelas and Reeves before Haas doubled to score Hintz and then Haas scored on a wild pitch.
The Ravens scored 9 runs over the first 3 innings in support of Ryan McDougal. McDougal went 4 innings, giving up 1 run off 2 hits with 7 strikeouts before Bowman and Arnold finished off the game in relief.
The Ravens recorded three doubles at the plate – Reeves Haas and JK Sparks recorded the three doubles. Reeves finished 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs, Hintz went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI to round out the Ravens efforts at the plate.
The Ravens finished the series going 14 of 16 on the bases as Martin went 4 of 5 while Reeves, Milroy, Ornelas and Hintz all went 2 for 2. They recorded 41 total bases with 7 extra-base hits.
Benedictine remains at home on April 17-18 with a pair of doubleheaders with MNU inside Olsen Stadium.
