Benedictine Softball splits a pair of road series on Friday and Saturday as the (25) Ravens took on Heart newcomers William Woods University and (10) Missouri Baptist University.
Friday, the Ravens swept William Woods 2-1 and 8-5 before Missouri Baptist earned a sweep on Saturday, 5-3 and 3-1.
Game 1: Benedictine 2, William Woods 1
Benedictine scored on a two-run home run in the top of the fourth inning and that was all the run support they needed to earn a win over the Owls.
Lily SinghDhillon earned the win inside the circle, throwing 6 innings while giving up 1 run off 4 hits with 6 strikeouts before Kaelyn Conrad held the Owls scoreless in the seventh to earn the save.
Martin finished the game going 2 for 3 at the plate while Lauren Gailey added the Ravens other hit.
Game 2: Benedictine 8, William Woods 5
Trailing 4-1, Benedictine scored 2 runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to earn a comeback win to sweep William Woods.
Benedictine finished the game with 12 hits in support of Bailey Selvage inside the circle. Selvage went all 7 innings with a new season-high 13 strikeouts to become the Ravens new all-time wins leaders inside the circle.
Amanda Waymire went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and 2 RBI at the plate. Martin and Abby Reynolds also finished with a double each. Reynolds, Kaleigh Small and Gaitley each went 2 for 3 at the plate with Small, Martin and Reynolds each recording and RBI.
Game 1: Missouri Baptist 5, Benedictine 3
The Spartans scored 5 runs in the bottom of the fifth to secure the first win of the doubleheader over the Ravens.
Selvage suffered the loss, giving up 5 runs off 4 hits with 6 strikeouts over 6 innings.
Reagan Enright hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to give the Ravens a 3-1 lead before the Spartans took the lead for good in the fifth.
Martin was the only Raven with a multi-hit game, finishing 2 for 4.
Game 2: Missouri Baptist 3, Benedictine 1
Missouri Baptist scored one run in each of the first three innings en route to the sweep over Benedictine.
Waymire was credited with the Ravens lone RBI at the plate as she was one of six Ravens to record a hit. Small finished 2 for 4 as the only Raven with a multi-hit game. Martin, Enright and Alena Velilla each finished with a double each as Martin walked 3 times.
SinghDhillon suffered the loss, throwing 5 innings with 2 strikeouts before Conrad finished the game, facing just three batters in the sixth inning.
Benedictine is scheduled to travel to Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday for a Heart doubleheader with (17) Grand View University, but forecasts for Des Moines have rain a storms in the forecast, which could force a schedule change, The Ravens are currently scheduled to return home on Sunday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader with Park University on Ravens Field.
